STEAM

As a high performing girls’ College, we believe we have a responsibility to foster the participation of young women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM). Our curriculum explicitly develops creativity, problem solving and innovative thinking; essential life skills and fundamental to STEAM programs.

The underlying skills of STEAM education are evident across the curriculum at all levels. Practical experiences abound both in the classroom and through the MGC STEAM Club.

STEAM Club students collaborate on projects such as building robots, designing apps, coding, virtual reality experiences, electronics, Lego design challenges and more. The club also encourages participation in competitions, camps, conferences and guest presentations.

Melbourne Girls College has developed strong partnerships with the University of Melbourne, CSIRO, engineering company Laing O’Rourke and our Alumni to provide further opportunities and mentoring for students.
