Girls in Leadership

The Melbourne Girls’ College leadership model is built around our core values of Teamwork, Diversity and Excellence.

Student leaders play an important role in College decision making and fostering an environment that empowers students and values their voice.

Each year, more than one hundred students experience formal leadership roles through the House System, Student Representative Council, Class Captains’ Forum, Middle School Executive, Senior Student Executive and the College Council.

Supported by staff through “guided autonomy”, students initiate and manage special events, projects and assemblies.

Our leadership program encourages involvement in social, intellectual, sporting and cultural activities and encourages attendance at professional public-speaking workshops, public debates as well as mentoring and leadership conferences.
