I graduated from MGC in 2017 as College Captain. After school, I took time off to join the Australian Army, receiving a Queen’s Commission from the Royal Military College in 2018. Since then, I have worked in several national disaster responses both interstate and overseas. At 19, I served as the Townsville Floods Contingent Commander, earning a Bronze Commendation for leadership and courage, and at 20, I was the State Coordinator for the Victorian Bushfires. At 21, I became the youngest female Army Captain since WWII and currently serve as a Troop Commander at 1 Commando Regiment. Alongside my military career, I began full-time study at Deakin University, where I was actively involved in the Deakin Law Student Society, serving as President in 2023-24. Passionate about law competitions, I have competed in over 30, including winning my university’s most prestigious mock trial competition twice.I also work as a Consultant at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

After graduating MGC in 2019, I went on to complete a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne, with a double major in Finance and Management. I was awarded the First in the Family Scholarship, which provided me a full scholarship to complete my studies as I was the first person in my immediate family to attend university. Since completing my university studies, I have started my career as a Strategy Consultant at KPMG, where I help clients solve their most complex problems and deliver value through corporate strategies. Throughout my time at MGC I was guided by committed teachers and provided with a breadth of learning opportunities, which was valuable in helping to prepare me for my journey post high school.

I graduated from MGC in 2009 after six wonderful years. My time at the school provided me with an excellent education, lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. At school, my teachers encouraged me to focus not only on my academic pursuits but extra-curricular activities and leadership roles on school committees, highlighting the importance of having a well-rounded experience. The guidance of a nurturing community of teachers and peers gave me plenty of opportunities to grow whilst developing my confidence and courage.I went on to study Commerce and Modern Languages at The University of Melbourne. After a successful internship, I started my career at ANZ Bank as a graduate. My career evolved further after I moved to London, where I worked at British Petroleum and then Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Today I am a Vice President at Bank of America in London, working in credit underwriting with a passion for helping women understand finance.I am grateful for the support and guidance I received from MGC and believe that future generations of young women will continue to benefit from this.

After graduating from MGC in 2019, I completed a Bachelor of Biomedicine at the University of Melbourne, where I first developed my passion for Anatomy. This inspired me to pursue a career in research and teaching in Anatomy. I then completed a Research Honours Year in Clinical Anatomy, investigating the anatomy and surgical applications of ankle ligaments. I was honoured to present my research findings at two international anatomy conferences in New Zealand and South Korea. I also began working as a practical demonstrator for the undergraduate Anatomy subjects and the Graduate Diploma of Surgical Anatomy, which prepares junior doctors for their surgical training entrance examination. In 2024, I spent a wonderful month interning at the Auckland Bioengineering Institute, engaging in research on computational modelling and electrical stimulation of the gastrointestinal tract to treat gut motility disorders and obesity. At the start of 2025, I commenced my PhD in Biomechanics, exploring how ankle anatomy influences movement and how this is affected in individuals with ankle instability and osteoarthritis.During my time at MGC, I enjoyed coordinating activities for the Science Club as the Middle School Science captain. The school's comedy programme also gave me the opportunity to participate in the Class Clown competition and the LOL Youth Comedy programme at the Arts Centre Melbourne, where we performed three sold-out shows during the Melbourne Comedy Festival! These experiences have been invaluable in building my confidence in science communication and public speaking. My favourite subjects in high school were Biology and Mathematics.

My high school life at MGC is deeply cherished. I went to a small primary school in the locality of our residence and was eager to be exposed to the big world of Melbourne and meet people from diverse backgrounds. This was pivotal in my decision to join MGC in Year 7, and by Year 9, I was a confident young teen navigating through the rollercoaster of life, thanks to the many extra-curricular activities I was involved in MGC. I developed leadership skills & values through Australian Air Force Cadets, Sports Teams, STEAM club, Environment Club, and student representations on the junior and senior school executives. My teachers also had a profound effect on encouraging academic excellence & strengthening my intra-personal values, especially through the VCE phase. After school, I studied Engineering, and currently I am an Engineering Consultant in the Energy Management & Renewables Industry. The learning opportunities from my time at MGC are foundational to my character & knowledge, and I trust MGC will continue to provide equitable education!

As a proud graduate of Melbourne Girls' College, I look back on my time with immense gratitude. The nurturing environment, coupled with the dedication of the teachers and deans, was instrumental in helping every student reach her full potential. Through their support, I developed confidence and resilience that have been pivotal in my journey. After graduating, I pursued a degree in biomedical science and embarked on a few years of dentistry. However, my passion led me to switch to a business pathway. Today, I am the Chief Operating Officer at a medical education start-up with operations in both Melbourne and Dubai. The skills and values I gained at Melbourne Girls' College continue to shape my career and personal growth, and I am forever thankful for the experiences that prepared me to take on the world.

My story starts before my time at Melbourne Girls College. I was born in Ukraine. When I was 7 years old, as Ukraine was becoming a less safe place to raise a family, my parents made the decision to move my sister and I to New Zealand where we did not speak the language and my parents’ professional qualifications weren’t recognised. We then moved to Australia when I was 10 and I started my education at MGC the next year. Throughout my years at MGC I made lifelong friends and gained an education that allowed me to pick a career I was interested in. The support and encouragement of my teachers and the mindset that I really could do anything, certainty shaped me to become the individual I am today. After graduating, I went onto study Commerce and Law at Monash University. After spending decade of my career working at a top tier commercial law firm and big 4, in 2022 I became a Partner at a global firm practising in tax. I became a member of the MGC College Council in 2019 and have been College Council President since 2023.

I was awarded the C.A.S Hawker Scholarship which provides me with a full scholarship to Burgmann College at the Australian National University. I was awarded this scholarship for my potential as a future leader. The application process considered my academic achievement, character, leadership and community service. In receiving this scholarship, I want to extend my gratitude to the staff and students at Melbourne Girls’ College. I had the opportunity to attend MGC from year 7 all the way through to year 12. MGC has had an immensely positive impact on me, allowing me to develop holistically as an individual. Upon arriving at MGC in year 7, I felt welcomed into a warm and inclusive culture. I was empowered to actively voice my opinions, and for the first time as a young student, I felt as though I could take up space in a classroom setting. Throughout my high school journey, I was supported by passionate and dedicated teachers. I not only grew academically from their teaching, but I also learnt how to think critically and be an independent learner. MGC's wide range of leadership and extra-curricular opportunities awarded me with a breadth of experience and allowed for me to develop interpersonal and leadership skills beyond the classroom setting. I will always look back on my time at MGC with joy and fulfilment, and I am certain that my experiences at MGC will guide me throughout my next chapter at ANU and beyond.

Since graduating from MGC in 2021, I have commenced a Bachelor of Science Advanced - Research (Honours) at Monash University. Highlights of my first year included being recipient of the Jackson Prize for Chemistry I Advanced and accepting a summer research scholarship in the atmospheric sciences. The research project gave me the opportunity to perform data analysis on a weather system associated with the 2022 eastern Australia floods and present my findings at the Weather and Climate Interactions conference in 2023. Going forward, I wish to finish my degree with specialisations in mathematics and computational science to equip me with the skills to solve problems in the 21st century. I am grateful for the confidence MGC gave me to thrive in STEM. Through the guidance of many dedicated teachers, I developed a passion for the sciences and was able to excel in my final year. I continue to enjoy being involved in the MGC community by tutoring current students in mathematics.

My time at MGC was incredibly valuable in making sure I understood all the doors that were open to me, and that I believed I could pursue and thrive doing whatever I wanted, including pursuing a career in the humanities and NFP work. I am still incredibly close to many of my MGC friends, who have been an incredibly powerful and empowering community of women to lean on.
Ella works at Future Women, where she manages Jobs Academy, an initiative to boost workforce participation and economic security among vulnerable Australian women. At Future Women more broadly, she works to make gender equality a reality in Australian workforces. Since graduating from UniMelb with a Bachelor of Arts(Honours), she has also produced There’s No Place Like Home podcast, a 10-episode podcast series highlighting the impacts of domestic violence in the words of victim-survivors which won Best Podcast of the Year and Best Podcast Episode of the Year in 2022. During her Honours year, she authored a thesis exploring Incel violence and the behaviour of alt-right men.

After graduating from MGC in 2018, I started a commerce degree in 2019. However, noticing the shift in technology within society, I saw that the need for trades people would be ever growing. I started an apprenticeship in Electrotechnology in 2020 but continued my degree online. I am now a fully qualified Electrician with a Bachelor of Commerce, and I have aspirations to start my own company in the coming years. I would love to take on female apprentices and staff, providing them with a supportive working environment which encourages women to partake in a male dominated industry. The future is female!
