The recently launched Buddy Program at Melbourne Girls’ College aims to welcome new international students (ISP) on their first day, enhance the greater sense of belonging and supportive school community by partnering local and new international students for the day.
This year we have 12 local students and 10 new ISP students participated in the Buddy program. The girls had great fun playing games and having lunch together. It made our new international students feel being welcomed and supported, which increased their sense of belonging before coming to Melbourne Girls’ College. We would like to thank all the buddies for having been so supportive, friendly and open to our new international students. We hope that many friendships will be formed and maintained through this program.
The Buddy Program would not have been possible without the strong support of all teachers and students. We would like to extend our gratitude for everyone’s support.
“The Buddy Program is really good. The local students are friendly, and they are glad to answer your questions. Maybe I need more time to chat with them😆”

“Thank you very much for organizing the International Student Buddy Program. I really enjoyed the activities that we did together with the International Students, especially the first activity where we found someone… and the last activity (talking about differences) I got to learn more about them individually, what their interests were and the differences in their culture compared to Australian. The food was very delicious and tasty!”
