Local applicants

Findmyschool.vic.gov.au hosts the most up-to-date information about Victorian school zones for 2022 onwards. To see if MGC is the designated neighbourhood school for your permanent place of residence, type your address, choose ‘Secondary’ and ‘Single Sex’. Only if MGC comes up listed as your ‘Secondary zone’ is it classified as your designated neighbourhood school.

If MGC only appears in the ‘nearest single sex school’ section, then it is not your designated neighbourhood school.

If you have a question about school zones call the VSBA Hotline on 1800 896 950 or email vsba@edumail.vic.gov.au

For the purpose of student enrolment in Victorian government school, the Department considers permanent place of residence as the address at which a child permanently resides at the time of enrolment. If a child resides at multiple addresses, the child’s ‘permanent residence’ is the address at which the child spends the majority of her weekdays.

Property or Lease documents must be under the parent’s name. For enrolment purposes the lease should be registered through a Real estate agent where possible, and must be concurrent to the year of enrolment. Applications from families with private rental agreements to reside with relatives living within the zone may not be accepted. Please contact the school for more information. The expectation of enrolment under ‘local’ status is that the family will need to be living within the MGC zone at the commencement of the school year. Enrolment will be jeopardised should inaccurate information be provided.

  • Families will be requested to provide documented evidence to verify their residential address.  This help keep our education system fair and equitable and ensure that children who live within the school zone are being prioritised for enrolment, families will be asked to provide documentation to verify their child’s permanent residence by completing a 100 point residential address check.Any combination of the following documents is acceptable, as long as they add up to at least 100 points.

Applicants must also submit a copy of their most recent school report.

Enrolment applications may not be successful if the requested information is not provided.

On request, you may also be required to complete a statutory declaration confirming the student is living in the address provided in the enrolment application and that the arrangement is genuine and intended to be permanent.

All other applicants

Melbourne Girls’ College accepts students from outside of the local area. The number of students that we are able to accommodate under this category is determined by the number of vacancies available after local students have been allocated a space.

Applicants must submit a copy of their most recent school report when completing the application.

Visiting MGC

Melbourne Girls’ College has an annual Open Day and Information Evening held in Term 2 of each year. The College does not accommodate individual tours throughout the year as it is a great disruption to the student learning.
