United Nations’ Walk for Women

This year on March 17th the annual United Nations’ Walk for Women will be held at the Botanical Gardens after school at approximately 4:30. The Walk is an initiative which helps to raise awareness of the injustices faced by women and girls all around the world while simultaneously raising much-needed funds.

Registration for the Walk will begin after school at Wadhurst – Melbourne Grammar’s Middle School – which is located near the corner of St Kilda and Domain Road. As part of this, participants will be charged 10 dollars each with all funds going to UN women. Subsequently, at 4:30 students from around Melbourne will walk together to show their support for gender equality. At the conclusion of the event, students will be able to enjoy a barbeque, cake store and light entertainment. We are hoping to surpass the attendance of 410 people last year who raised over 6000 dollars so please bring as many friends along as possible

In 2016, we were fortunate enough to have a handful of MGC girls represented at the walk; but, we hope to see more MGC students in even greater numbers this year. If you have any questions or are interested in participating, please contact Nell Crossett or Isobel Carver, who are the representatives of the Walk for Women committee.

Hope to see you there!
