Melbourne Girls’ College is committed to:

Melbourne Girls’ College’s enrolment policy is approved by the Minister for Education.

To see if MGC is the designated neighbourhood school for your permanent place of residence, type your address, choose ‘Secondary’ and ‘Single Sex’. For the purpose of student enrolment in Victorian government school, the Department considers permanent place of residence as the address at which a child permanently resides at the time of enrolment. If a child resides at multiple addresses, the child’s ‘permanent residence’ is the address at which the child spends the majority of her weekdays.
Property or Lease documents must be under the parent’s name. For enrolment purposes the minimum lease period is 12 months through a registered Real estate agent and must be concurrent to the year of enrolment. Private lease arrangements, including living with relatives, are not acceptable. The expectation of enrolment under ‘local’ status is that the family will remain permanent residents within the zone for the duration of their child’s education at Melbourne Girls’ College. Enrolment will be jeopardised should inaccurate information be provided.
Families will be requested to provide documented evidence to verify their residential address:
- A copy of Rates Notice or Lease Agreement (the Lease Agreement must be through a registered Real Estate Agent and be for a minimum of 12 months which is inclusive of the proposed start date at MGC); and
- A copy of the most recent electricity or gas account or letter of connection.
Plus one of the following (showing your current residential address):
- A copy of a Driver’s Licence; or
- A copy of a telephone/internet account; or
- A copy of the electoral roll listing; or
- A letter from Medicare or other government agency.
Applicants must also submit a copy of their most recent school report.
All other applicants
Melbourne Girls’ College accepts students from outside of the local area. The number of students that we are able to accommodate under this category is determined by the number of vacancies available after local students have been allocated a space.
Applicants must submit a copy of their most recent school report when completing the application.
Melbourne Girls’ College has an annual Open Day and Information Evening held in April/May each year. There is no need to register for either of these events.
A final school tour for 2019 will be held at 9am on Thursday 8th August for prospective students and parents. Please meet at the General Office via Gate 3. Our Year 8 Junior Ambassadors will lead this tour and members of the Principal team will be available to answer your questions. We anticipate this tour will conclude around 10am. There is no need to register for this tour.

Individual tours are not conducted throughout the year as they interrupt successful learning for our current students.
How to apply
Complete the online enrolment form ensuring that you upload digital copies of the relevant supporting documentation and most recent school report. Applicants will be shortlisted and contacted for an interview as places become available.
We ask that applications for MGC in 2020 be completed in the online enrolment form (above) by Friday 30th August.
